LEGISLATIVE ACTIVITY AND REPORTING
NARI National is in Des Plaines, IL. It works daily on monitoring federal and regulatory activities for all its members to preserve the security of their livelihood.

CONSUMER AWARENESS
NARI continually works to educate the consumer about the benefits of hiring a NARI professional through literature, its Web site and press releases. Articles can also be found in Qualified Remodeler Magazine and Remodeling.

CERTIFICATION AND EDUCATION
Certification and education of qualified remodeling contractors is a way to recognize the professional standards of the trade and to continually improve the level of business practices within that industry. The Certified Remodeler (CR), Certified Remodeler Associate or Specialist (CRA/CRS) and Certified Lead Carpenter (CLC) designations show which contractors have sought ongoing education, established high professional and ethical standards, have the ability to perform and be knowledgeable in all aspects of remodeling functions and demonstrate proven competence. NARIGC also works with the Chicago public schools to certify carpenters in the remodeling industry.

OTHER NATIONAL BENEFITS
Other benefits include a free subscription to The Remodeler's Journal, a bi-monthly publication; a huge reference library of educational material; group health insurance; a NARI credit card; plus much, much, more.

MONTHLY MEETINGS
Monthly Dinner meetings are generally held on the second Tuesday of each month. These meetings provide an opportunity for members and potential new members to network and discuss common problems associated with the remodeling industry. The meetings also offer opportunities for sales leads and other solid business contacts. A featured guest speaker or exciting program is always scheduled to insure an educational, informative and entertaining evening. See Upcoming Chapter Activities for schedule and locations.

NEWSLETTER
The Leader is published as a service to our local members. This approximately eight-page newsletter offers a variety of industrial and local news ranging from member profiles and national legislative issues, to interesting articles by member guest columnists and chapter calendar of events. The newsletter also is utilized as a education tool, and sent to non-members who may be influential to the growth and success of our local chapter and its member interests. In addition to The Leader, we publish a one-page fax broadcast update entitled Nails & Tales.

HOME IMPROVEMENT SHOWS/SEMINARS
NARI membership participates in the several Chicagoland home shows specifically aimed at the local consumer searching for ideas, goods and services relating to the home improvement industry. "Remodeling Today" seminars are held throughout the Chicagoland area.

ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP DIRECTORY
The NARI of Greater Chicagoland membership directory is printed once a year with over 3,000 copies given to consumers, suppliers, lenders, media, architects, interior designers and other related businesses. Consumers who call the NARI office are mailed a copy free of charge.

LOCAL PUBLICITY
The Chicagoland chapter is very active in promoting the professionalism of our NARI members. We conduct ongoing advertising efforts to educate the public about the advantages of doing business with a NARI member. Weekly columns run in the Pioneer Press publications as well as the suburban Chicago newspapers.

NARIGC ON THE WEB
NARI of Greater Chicagoland maintains this Web Site with listings of all members, consumer information and trade information. For a small fee, the program offers members the opportunity to choose the zip codes in which they prefer to work and categories in which they specialize. COMMUNITY SERVICE
NARI of Greater Chicagoland is active in community service activities, thus bringing further recognition of our professional status to the attention of the Chicagoland community.
